The Brazilian school handball team won the silver medal in the Commonwealth Games of the Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), played in Cape Verde, Africa.
With the victory 27-22 against the selection of Angola, the students CAIC Balduino of Teresina, Piauí, went home with the runner-up. In the system of consecutive points, the gold medal went to students from Portugal and bronze with the team of Angola.
For the national team coach, Giuliano Ramos, the podium exceeded expectations. "Initially I longed to be world champion school, thinking that the CPLP Games these were school level. However, I found out during the matches that the technical level is much higher than the school event, "he said.
CPLP in 2016, Brazilian students faced the selections of Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde and Sao Tome and Principe.
The game
In the contest for the silver medal, the selection faced in Angola Multisport Complex in Cape Verde. In intense pace, marked by attacks of bids, the opposing team was scoring.
Brazilians were determined to win and opened the difference with five points ahead of Angolans. Brazil finished the first half at 16-11.
In the second half, Angola scored five points and the Brazilians kept the advantage of five goals over opponents. Thus, the Brazilian team secured the silver medal to win the match by 27 x 22.
