Confidence indicator of small business up 20% in Brazil

The Confidence Indicator (CI) of the micro and small business owners of retail segments and services advanced 20.7% between July and the same month of 2015.

Calculated by the Credit Protection Service (SPC Brazil) and the National Confederation of Shopkeepers (CNDL), the IC increased from 37.06 points to 44.72 points, reaching the highest level in 15 months time series. Compared to June of this, when the indicator was at 42.93 points, growth was 4.2%.

According to the SPC Brazil, despite the improvement recorded in the annual and monthly variations, most respondents still believes that the general conditions of the economy and their business worsened in the last six months, as it follows below the neutral level of 50 points. The indicator scale ranges from zero to 100 - above 50 show optimism and pessimism shows.

The IC consists of the General Conditions Indicator and the Expectations Indicator. The indicator General Conditions, which evaluates the perception of micro and small entrepreneurs on the performance of their companies and the Brazilian economy in the last six months, increased from 21.32 points to 25.53 in the comparison between July and the same month of the year previous.

Perception of entrepreneurs

The result, however, below the neutral level of 50 points, indicating that for the majority of respondents, the economy worsened over the past six months.This indicator assesses the perception of micro and small business in two dimensions: the business and the economy. The evaluation of the last few months the economy scored 22.82 points, while the assessment of the past few months the business has reached 28.24 points.

The micro and small retail businesses and services have improved their expectations for the next six months. In July, the index scored 59.11 points, to 20.9% high in relation to July 2015, when it marked 48.87. In the monthly comparison, the expectations for the economy rose from 54.78 points in June to 56.07 points in July.

With this high, the indicator remained above the neutral mark of 50 points, indicating that most of these business owners expect the economy to improve in the coming months. The same was observed in expectations for the business, which reached 62.16 points, reported the SPC Brazil.
