Brazil closed the quarter with R $ 370 million profit

Brazil has achieved the  second quarter with net income of R $ 370 million between April and June. In the first quarter, Petrobras had recorded aloss of R $ 1.2 billion.  

According to the company, contribuíram positively to this result the 30% reduction in net financial expenses, growth of 7% in the total production of oil and natural gas, 14% increase in exports of oil and oil products and the reduction costs with imports of natural gas. 

Last year,  Brazil closed the year 2015 with 7.7% growth in oil production and 10.1% in natural gas production compared to 2014. Also last year, the country recorded successive monthly records in the fields geological Pre-salt, reaching in August 2015 the best production, with 859.8 Mb / d of oil and 32.5 million m³ / d of natural gas.

Increased operational efficiency of the production units and the high productivity of the exploited wells in the pre-salt reservoirs were important factors in achieving these results. The data are from the Bulletin Annual Exploration and Production of Oil and Natural Gas - Base 2015 .

From 2006 to 2015, proven oil domestic reserves grew 6.6%, from 12.2 to 13.0 billion barrels. At sea, this growth was 9.7% (from 11.3 to 12.4 billion barrels). On land, oil reserves fell by 25.6% (from 0.9 to 0.67 billion barrels).

The basin of Sergipe, in its terrestrial part, had in 2015 the largest proven reserves, with 0.21 billion barrels. Last year, the proven oil reserves in the country decreased by 19.5% when compared to 2014 (from 16.2 to 13.0 billion barrels).

Natural gas

Regarding proven natural gas reserves in the past ten years there has also been an increase of 23.3% (from 348 to 429 billion cubic meters). At sea, this percentage was 31.5% (from 273 to 359 billion cubic meters).

The Santos Basin, on December 31, 2015, was the holder of the largest volume of reserves in the country (227 billion cubic meters or 52.8% of total).On land, there was a decrease of 4.3% (from 74 to 71 billion cubic meters) in proven reserves of natural gas, compared to 2006.
