Between January 2015 and June 2016, the Service Time Guarantee Fund (FGTS) has invested R $ 81 billion in housing construction in the country. This year alone, US $ 26.7 billion in funds were invested in this segment, benefiting 1.9 million people and generating nearly 1.5 million jobs. The FGTS turned 50 this September.
The Minister of Labour and Chairman of the Trustee Council of the FGTS, Ronaldo Nogueira, emphasized the importance of social background and impact on society. According to him, more than four thousand municipalities in the country with works financed."The FGTS must continue to fulfill its mission, which is to return for the benefit of the worker himself," said Ronaldo.
Nogueira also highlighted that investments in housing and infrastructure should be maintained as priorities in implementing the FGTS. He also recalled that, investments by 2019 in housing, sanitation and urban infrastructure, exceeded R $ 218 billion, according to the budget approved by the Board of Trustees.
"The FGTS is a worker's heritage and it will be maintained. It is our mission as public servants, keep the Fund as this valuable asset, "the minister emphasized.

Consolidated as the largest fund of Latin America and the eighth largest in the world, FGTS has 85 million active accounts, with monthly payment of about 38 million linked accounts, made by more than 4.5 million employers.
The Fund was created by Law No. 5107 of 1966, to protect the worker dismissed without cause.
