Brazil More Productive
Percentage is above the initial target of 20%; more than 1,000 factories have already received program actions
The Most Productive Brazil Program increased the productivity of the companies served by the initiative by an average of 51%. Results accumulated through the end of August show the success of the program, whose initial goal was to increase industry productivity by 20% by promoting rapid, low-cost, and high-impact improvements.
According to data from the Brazilian Industrial Development Agency (ABDI), responsible for the management of Brazil More Productive, up to August, 1,224 consultations were completed and another 1,747 are underway. The majority (360) of the companies that received consulting of the program is from the South Region. Another 353 are from the Southeast Region and 219 of them are in the Northeast. Companies from the Midwest (213) and North (79) are also in the program.
The Minister of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services (MDIC), Marcos Pereira, launched the program in 15 units of the Federation, but the activities of the program take place all over the country.
With an investment of approximately R $ 50 million, the first phase of the project, which includes three thousand companies and runs until the end of this year, provides for intra-firm intervention and is aimed at increasing productivity through the use of manufacturing techniques based on the reduction of the seven most common waste that occurs in the production process: overproduction, waiting time, transportation, excess processing, inventory, movement and defects.
The companies surveyed report that they reduced, on average, 56% the unnecessary displacement through the reorganization of processes and layouts, prioritizing activities that add value. They also had 58% reduction rates of rejects and disposal of materials due to processing failures during the manufacturing process. In addition to the reduction of work and rework, the preliminary results show the low return time of the amount invested, whose average is four months.
