Of this total, 2.6 million barrels were produced in Brazil and 107 thousand barrels abroad
In August, Petrobras produced 2.72 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed), of which 2.61 million were produced in Brazil and 107 thousand abroad. Average oil production in the country was 2.11 million barrels per day (bpd), in line with July's volume.
The production of natural gas in Brazil, excluding the liquefied volume, also remained stable in relation to the previous month, with 79.9 million m³ / d. The use of the gas produced in the platforms operated by Petrobras reached the mark of 96.8%, representing a new monthly record.
Oil production in the fields abroad was 62 thousand bpd, a volume 4.9% lower than the previous month. Natural gas production was 7.8 million m³ / d, 7.2% below the volume produced in July 2017. This performance was mainly due to the closure of wells in producing fields in the US during the passage of Hurricane Harvey .
Pre-salt
In August, the production of oil and natural gas operated by Petrobras (own parcel and partners) in the pre-salt layer was 1.57 million boed, volume 2.5% lower than the previous month. This result is mainly due to the programmed shutdowns of the Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSOs) in the City of Marica and the City of Itaguaí, both installed in the Lula field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt.
