The Minister of Communications, Paulo Bernardo, said that the National Broadband Program (PNBL) aims to provide internet connections for 70% of households by year 2015. The Minister said the program will seek to reduce costs and improve internet connection quality and speed. Paulo Bernardo added that in addition to public investment, private companies will also be responsible for investments in the sector.
"We believe that the PNBL will not only meet the target of 70% of homes set for 2015 by year 2014, but will also enable us to start thinking about a program of universal internet, similar to what we have with the Light for All program launched under President Lula. I have even discussed this with the President. I think it makes sense to start considering a national internet for all program", he said.
