The Consumer Price Index of the Elderly (IPC-3i), which measures the variation in the consumption basket of families mostly composed of individuals over 60 years of age, registered a fall of 0.87 percentage points in the second quarter of 2017 And remained at 0.50%. In the first quarter, the rate was 1.38%.
The main contribution to the fall was from the Housing group, whose rate went from 2.02% to 0.40%. The item that most influenced the behavior of this expense class was residential electricity tariff, which varied -2.46% in the second quarter, compared to 5.76% in the previous one.
The following groups also contributed to the decrease: Food (1.12% to - 0.94%), Education, Reading and Recreation (2.95% to 0.08%), Transportation (0.39% to -0 , 52%) and Miscellaneous Expenses (1.51% to 1.16%).
For each of these classes of expenditure, it is worth mentioning the behavior of the items: fruits (1.97% to -19.22%), formal courses (9.19% to 0.00%), urban bus fare % To 0.83%) and cigarettes (1.72% to 0.00%), respectively.
On the other hand, the Health and Personal Care groups (1.74% to 2.70%), Communication (-1.07% to 0.75%) and Clothing (-0.19% to 1.18%) increased In their rates of change.
