Fall of inflation
Prices of fruit, wheat flour and traditional cod registered fall this Christmas
The Brazilian's Christmas will be more filling this year. According to data from the Brazilian Institute of Economy of the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV IBRE), typical Christmas food items are 7.68% cheaper than in 2016. Inflation of the items was below the Consumer Price Index -10 ( IPC-10 / FGV) from January to December this year (3.24%).
The result was fruit, with retraction of 13.86%, wheat flour, -12.83%, and cod, -12.31%. "In 2017, the climate favored agriculture. With the increase in the supply of food, prices declined and returned part of the increase recorded in 2016. Thus, fruits, rice and wheat flour registered a significant drop, "explained FGV IBRE economist and FGV IBRE IPC coordinator, André Braz. The pig loin (6.58%), onion (5.60%) and wine (5.11%) were recorded.
Gifts
Those present presented a light weight of only 0.67%, and will not weigh in the pocket of those who wish to give. Of the 19 products that the foundation monitors for research, there was a drop in the prices of mobile phones (-6.57%), electric ovens and microwaves (-4.16%) and television sets (-2.77%). Jewelery (7.07%), children's shoes (5.67%) and games for recreation (4.49%) were more expensive.
Despite the stimulating prices this Christmas, Brazilians should pay attention to the accounts and not exceed the limit with the expenses, indicates the economist. "Those who have accumulated resources over time can seize the opportunity and buy. However, in spite of the apparent reaction of the economic activity, I do not advise that the families compromise their resources in the acquisition of goods only to seize the prices. Promotions occur frequently, and there is no need to anticipate consumption. The moment is still prudent, "he said.
