On March 12, the National Immigration Council (CNIg) established the Special Commission to Study the Brazilian System of Qualified Labor Migration. The commission was created to study changes to simplify the procedures practiced in Brazil for issuing work visas, thereby speeding up decisions regarding the arrival of skilled labor in the country. The Commission is to produce a report on its findings by June 30.
The Commission will study amendments to the immigration system and will be able to propose changes to accelerate the process of issuing work visas to foreigners. At today's meeting, the work methodology along with the composition of the Commission and the priority issues on its agenda were defined.
The Ministries of Labor, Justice and Foreign Affairs, which are the ministries most involved in dealing with the issue of immigration, will coordinate the work of the Commission.
