At 10am, on Monday, April 29, the Strategic Affairs Secretariat (SAE) is to launch the third edition of the "Voices of the New Middle Class" book in Annex I of the Presidential Palace. The event will be promoted in partnership with Caixa Econômica Federal and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
The work, which focuses on "Entrepreneurship and the Middle Class" shows the contribution of entrepreneurs in the expansion of the new Brazilian middle class. One of the standout points is the jump in the formalization of employment. Of the six million jobs created by small businesses between 2001 and 2011, 95% were formal jobs.
The publication presents an innovative approach to the contribution of entrepreneurship in the expansion and sustainability of the middle class from 2001 to 2011, as well as an overview of employment generation in social mobility, and other items.
To draw a comparison between the middle class and entrepreneurship, SAE specialists used data from the National Household Survey (PNAD - IBGE), the Social Perception Indicator System and the IPEA (SIPS-IPEA), and mapped the size of this population with socioeconomic profiles, behaviors and scenario perceptions. For example, the analysis included the number of self-employed individuals, employers and employees; the numbers of formal and informal jobs; individual, micro and small enterprises, and the presence of each segment in the social classes over the last decade.
The "Voices of the New Middle Class" series consists of periodic studies providing information on the evolution, values, behavior and aspirations of the Brazilian middle class in order to support the formulation of public policies.
