In an event of the civil construction sector, Finance Minister highlights the role of economic reforms in the growth of the economy

With the approval of economic reforms and the stabilization of the Brazilian economy, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will enter a "robust" growth path starting in 2018. The assessment was made this Friday (26) by the Minister of Finance, Henrique Meirelles, after an event by the Brazilian Chamber of Construction Industry (CBIC) in Brasília.

According to journalists, the Minister of Finance estimated that, with the approval of the Social Security reform and the modernization of labor laws, Brazil will consolidate the way out of the economic crisis and will be able to grow again in a more pronounced way.

"With microeconomic reforms and declining state size, we can increase the rate of this potential growth in the coming years. It can reach a number between 3.5% and 4% per year and then enter a strong growth path for the next few years, "said Meirelles.

Currently, the Social Security reform is awaiting analysis of the plenary of the Chamber of Deputies. Essential to contain social security expenditures and avoid a collapse of accounts, it provides for the adoption of a minimum age of 65 for men and 62 for women to access the benefit, among other measures.

At the same time, the federal government proposed the modernization of the Consolidation of Labor Laws (CLT), which provides, mainly, for the prevalence of collective agreements on legislation, giving more legal security to workers and entrepreneurs. With the updating of labor laws, the expectation is that more jobs will be generated.

"The country is on the right track, it is growing and it is already becoming aware of the approval of the reforms. What is important is the continuity of this line of reforming the Brazilian economy to increase growth, "said the minister.
