Employment
Data point to recovery and positive expectations for hiring in the coming months
In recent months, the labor market has gained momentum in the face of the resumption of formal hiring and falling unemployment. Data from the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV) show that there is a greater optimism between entrepreneurs and consumers regarding employment in the future.
This research, which functions as a thermometer, makes a measurement in points, and the higher this score, the stronger the contracting trend in the Country.
In September, the Employment Indicator (IAEMP) rose by 2.4 points to 100.6 points - the highest level in the historical series, which began in 2008. In the year, the indicator accumulated a high of 10.6 points. Also in September, the increase occurred in six of the seven indices that compose the indicator, especially those that measure the satisfaction with business, services, consumption and with the expectation of finding employment in the coming months.
"The best data of the economic activity sustain the optimism of the entrepreneurs for the resumption of hirings in the coming months. The prospect of higher-than-expected growth in 2017 and 2018 reinforces this optimism. Employment should continue to advance in the coming months, "says Fernando de Holanda Barbosa Filho, an economist at FGV.
