In a meeting with ambassadors, President Michel Temer and ministers of state reassured the representatives of importing countries about the rigor in sanitary inspection

The federal government will accelerate the audits of the 21 refrigerators mentioned in Operation Carne Carne, which was launched by the Federal Police last Friday (17). In a meeting with ambassadors from importing countries, the President of the Republic, Michel Temer, took stock of the actions of the Executive and ensured the quality and rigor of inspections of Brazilian products.

Temer, accompanied by the Ministers of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Map), Blairo Maggi; And Industry, Foreign Trade and Services (MDIC), Marcos Pereira, and representatives of other pulp, received 33 ambassadors from meat buyers countries, this Sunday (19) at the Planalto Palace.

In the conversation with the ambassadors, Temer emphasized that Brazilian products, over time, have won the approval of consumers and the most demanding markets from the point of view of agricultural inspection and defense. In addition, he highlighted the rigor of Map inspection services on animal products.

"The federal government wants to reiterate its confidence in the quality of our national product," the president said, opening the meeting with the ambassadors. "This standard of excellence is that over time it has opened the doors of more than 150 countries, with permanent audit, monitoring and risk assessment," he added.

Audits

On Friday, the Map interdicted three refrigerators cited in the Federal Police investigation. They represent only a small portion of Brazilian production. In total, the country has 4,837 animal production units. "I am mentioning numbers to verify that it is the minimum in relation to the large number of cold plants that we have in our country," he said.

Of the 21 units investigated, only six shipped products to the international market. The Minister of Agriculture said that the briefcase will inform on the Internet what the products were, which companies and which countries received the exports. If necessary, products on the way will be collected.

"The object of the investigation is not the Brazilian agricultural defense system, whose rigor is recognized, but a few deviations from the conduct of a few employees in some very few companies," Temer said.

System

In 2016, 853,000 consignments of animal origin were shipped abroad, the president mentioned, and only 184 were considered out of compliance by buyers for labeling and non-sanitary purposes.

Minister Blairo Maggi recalled that Brazilian agricultural production is an extensive chain that employs more than 6 million people in the country and whose supervision is made by a strong and robust system. The government is determined to separate what is good from what is bad, reassured the minister.

"The Federal Police has initiated an investigation, this investigation will continue, obviously the ministry will give all support separate the wheat tassel. Whoever is to blame will answer for the problems. We can not accept that the great majority of the companies and servers that make up this great business that is Brazilian agriculture are put in check by few people, "Maggi told the ambassadors.
