Gasoline and ethanol prices drop in January

Last week, Petrobras announced a reduction in refinery prices. Gasoline was 0.24% cheaper and ethanol varied 0.07%

Last week, the National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) recorded a drop in the price of gasoline, whose average value reached R $ 3,765 on Saturday (28), 0.24% less than the previous week. The data are part of the Price SurveyAgency. 

The reduction in prices also covered other products, such as ethanol, which fell 0.7% and closed the week at R $ 2,929 after four high.

In addition, on Thursday (26), Petrobras had already announced that the reduction of 1.4% in the price of gasoline in refineries, which came into effect the following day.

According to the state-owned company, the decrease was applied due to the appreciation of the real, adjustments in Petrobras' domestic market competitiveness and the reduction in the prices of derivatives in the international markets with the increase of inventories.

The company calculates that if the adjustment is fully passed on to consumers by the distributors and gas stations, the effect for the final consumer of the rebate can reach 0.4% or R $ 0.02 per liter, on average.

The ANP survey was conducted between January 22 and 28, in all states and the Federal District. The selection of 501 localities was established based on economic criteria, based on variables such as income, population, number of resellers and fleet of vehicles.
