Fight for $15 National Day of Action highlights growing momentum for fair wages: Events planned in cities across the country

Vancouver – The Fight for $15 campaign to increase the minimum wage is gaining momentum across Canada. Today is the National Day of Action with Fight for $15 events taking place in cities from Vancouver to Moncton.

Media are invited to attend the Vancouver rally. The event will have speakers, performers, and activity stations.

When: Friday, April 15

Time: 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm (speeches at 5:30 pm)

There are also events happening in Surrey and Kamloops on April 15.

The Fight for $15 campaign is a call for provincial governments to increase the minimum wage to $15/hour so a full-time worker earning minimum wage is not trapped in poverty. The campaigns highlight the impact of poverty wages on families, communities and our economy.

The National Day of Action is organized by a coalition of organizations – labour, community, students, and more – engaged in the fight for fair wages. Day of Action events include rallies, petition signing, leafleting and outreach to elected representatives.
