Debts can be paid or renegotiated by December 2017. Law, published in the Official Gazette, includes the North and Northeast producers

The farmers of the north and northeast, which were affected by drought, may renegotiate debts or get off to settle them. The law published on Thursday (29) in the Official Gazette (DOU), the debt may be paid or renegotiated until 29 December 2017.

The measure applies to cases with one or more of the same borrower operations contracted until December 31, 2011, Banco do Nordeste and Banco da Amazônia.

Discounts will be applied in five tracks of updated values ​​of debt, according to the original amounts that range from $ 15,000 to more than R $ 500 thousand.

For those who contracted debt with Banco do Nordeste, the discounts range from 15% to 95%. To whom should the Bank of the Amazon, the percentage ranges from 10% to 85%.

The article authorizing the federal government to renegotiate the debts of agricultural cooperatives with the National Program for Strengthening Family Agriculture (Pronaf), acquired up to December 31, 2010, had veto because it does not provide precise definition of the scope of the renegotiation, making it practically impossible the estimated financial impact of the measure to the National Treasury.
