Brazil launches plan to promote empowerment of disabled people

The Brazilian government has launched a national plan to promote the rights of persons with disabilities, the "Viver sem Limites" ("Living Without Limits" in Portuguese). The plan comprehends policies in key areas such as education, health, citizenship and accessibility. The aim is to promote social inclusion and independent living of disabled people by eliminating barriers and allowing better access to goods and services. According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), 45.6 million people have some kind of disability in Brazil, which represents approximately 23.91% of the country's population.
