Report sent to the European Union confirms food and sanitary security in production. Ministry will strengthen number of inspectors
The Ministry of Agriculture has sent to the European Union a report proving the food safety of poultry produced in Brazil. The analyzes made in refrigerators ruled out the existence of two types of salmonellas that can affect public health: tifimurium and enteritidis.
In addition to the analyzes, the ministry informed the bloc that it reinforced sanitary control measures to prevent the presence of the bacteria. The report, according to the briefing, is a response to supposed nonconformities pointed out by the European mission that came to Brazil in early May.
At the time of the mission, they insisted on the need for refrigerators to improve product inspection, with reinforcement in the staff of inspectors. "To meet this requirement, the ministry will urgently hire, within 60 days, 300 veterinarians," the ministry said in a statement.
These new professionals will work with the federal agricultural auditors in cold storage plants. They will serve the units that export to the European Union and will make assessments before and after the slaughter of the animals.
Public tender
Also in progress, together with the Ministry of Planning, is the request to hold a thousand tax contest to meet the demand for the next ten years. "The European community is one of the priorities because being an old customer, who buys a lot and who helped Brazil to improve the agricultural defense with its requirements," explained the ministry in the note.
