SINGAPORE, 29 August 2014 – With the generous support of business partners, over S$800,000 was raised at SingTel’s annual charity golf event held today at Tanah Merah Country Club. The funds will go to the six beneficiaries adopted by the SingTel Touching Lives Fund (STLF).
Mr Yuen Kuan Moon, Chairman of the STLF and CEO Consumer Singapore at SingTel, said: “When we formed the STLF, one of our aims was to bring our business partners, staff and members of the public together in support of a common cause. The SingTel Charity Golf is one of our largest fundraising events for STLF, and I would like to thank our business partners who have supported us strongly with their generous donations.”
“The funds raised will go a long way in helping the beneficiaries run programmes to help children and youth with special needs realise their potential and aspirations, and lead more independent lives,” said Mr Yuen.
The STLF is focused on helping children and youths with special needs. It has donated more than S$28 million since it was set up in 2002.
This year’s contributions will have an even greater impact on the less privileged. Under the Care & Share Movement led by Community Chest, all donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Government. The Movement is part of SG50, and the matched amount will go towards building the capabilities and capacities of the social service sector to meet rising needs.
Ms Ng Ling Ling, Managing Director of Community Chest, said: “For the past 12 years, STLF has been supporting Community Chest charities. We would like to offer our deepest appreciation to SingTel for leading by example in the Care & Share Movement – inspiring its partners, staff and the public to give generously and making a lasting impact on the lives of our beneficiaries.”
SingTel has pledged S$3 million this year towards charitable causes that enable the inclusion and well-being of people. In July, we announced a S$1.1 million donation to SG Enable to establish an Enabling Innovation Centre. The Centre will be part of an integrated community space that will provide one-stop access to services and encourage greater inclusion of persons with disabilities.

SingTel matches all employees’ contribution dollar-for-dollar
In addition to the charity golf event, SingTel also runs an in-house donation drive where SingTel matches dollar-for-dollar contributions from employees. Donations received from the in-house drive have been encouraging.
Every dollar contributed to the STLF goes directly to SingTel’s beneficiaries, as SingTel bears all fundraising costs.
