Secretary Carlos da Costa points out that fish farming is one of the growth aspects of the Northern region

In solemnity on the night of Tuesday (6/8), with the presence of the President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro, the Ministry of Economy (ME) stressed the importance of fish farming for the Northern region. “The biggest enemy of the environment is misery, poverty and joblessness,” said ME Secretary of Productivity, Employment and Competitiveness Carlos Da Costa. "Fish farming, with the cultivation of tambaqui, is one of the growth strands of the new Amazon and a symbol of the new prosperous Brazil, which generates employment," he added.

The secretary attended the launching ceremony of the Tambaqui Festival of the Amazon - partnership of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply and Sebrae - which aims to present the Amazonian fish to restaurants, chefs, food exporters and population.

According to Carlos Da Costa, the creation of captive tambaqui represents a new growth model that the government is implementing in the Amazon. “We are generating jobs on a sustainable basis, especially in micro and small producing companies,” he said.

The launching ceremony of the festival was attended by the governor of Rondônia, Marcos Rocha; Amazon Governor Wilson Lima; and the president of Sebrae, Carlos Melles, as well as parliamentarians and public managers of states and municipalities.

On Wednesday (7), about 6 tons of roasted tambaqui were distributed to the population of the Federal District, in the Esplanade of Ministries.
