Sporty students from across CQUni’s national footprint converge in Rockhampton

The annual Chancellor’s Cup event has attracted 125 students from across CQUniversity’s national footprint to compete in basketball, cricket and futsal games in Rockhampton.
This event will be hosted at CQUniversity Rockhampton North, with some games at nearby Judd Park and the Indoor Sports Arena.
There’s campus representation from as far afield as Geraldton, Townsville, Mackay, Bundaberg, Gladstone, Noosa, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and, of course, Rockhampton.
Competitors are scheduled to arrive on Monday (Aug 17) and compete from Tuesday to Friday, with grand finals on Friday (August 21).
Friday’s highlights, from 2.30pm to 3.30pm, also include a 3-point shootout competition involving representatives of the CQUniversity Cairns Taipans, who recently topped the National Basketball League.
The Cairns Taipans players attending will be Rockhampton local Stephen Weigh and CQUniversity student Shaun Bruce. Cairns Taipans CEO Mark Beecroft will also be attending.
