SARITA, Texas – Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents seized 41 pounds of methamphetamines.  The narcotics were hidden in the door panels of a Mazda Tribute.  The seizure occurred June 21st, when agents from Kingsville Border Patrol Station assigned to the Sarita checkpoint encountered a female subject, U.S. citizen, driving a 2006 silver Mazda Tribute in the primary lane.  After a K-9 alerted to the vehicle, the driver was sent to secondary for additional inspection.  The search revealed 16 bundles of methamphetamines concealed in the vehicle’s door panels.  The total weight of the narcotics was approximately 41 pounds with an estimated street value of more than $1.3 million.  The driver, vehicle and narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration. The Rio Grande Valley Sector is part of the South Texas Corridor, which leverages federal, state and local resources to combat transnational criminal organizations.
