Target was highlighted by Minister Marcos Pereira during the opening of the 29th International Motor Show in Sao Paulo
During the opening of the 29th International Motor Show in São Paulo, on Thursday (10), the Minister of Industry, Trade and Services, Marcos Pereira said entrepreneurs in the automotive industry that the focus of the current administration is to make competitive Brazilian automotive industry globally. "We want Brazil to be consolidated as a global hub for the development and production of vehicles," he said.
According to the minister, the ministry has initiated discussion with the productive sector on the next cycle of the automotive policy. "We need to produce and sell cars to the world. The automotive industry is changing at a fast pace and the Brazilian industry should be supported to accompany these changes, "he said.
The current cycle through the Innovate-Auto program, secured investments of R $ 15.3 billion in research, development and engineering, between 2013 and 2015. The funds were aimed at creating new research and development structures, new laboratories emissions, the development of materials and fuel testing, noise and safety, among other gains.
Moreover, the energy efficiency targets resulted in the launch of a new generation of lighter, powerful and efficient engines. Among the results, there was also the development of more refined projects, improvement, implementation and dissemination of new technologies.
Marcos Pereira pointed out that there are other ongoing initiatives. In this line, the ministry is working on a Sustainability Program Vehicle Fleet. The demand came from the Business Coalition and the theme, Marcos Pereira said the government plans to present an integrated proposal, with a view to a long-term public policy. "Our goal is to create bases for Brazil to return to sustainable growth in the coming years," he said.
To the minister, in times of economic turmoil, fiscal and reduced credit adjustment, we need to treat the external market as one of the exits to keep the warm sector. Therefore, detailed entrepreneurs recent initiatives to resume dialogue with external partners and seek new markets for the Brazilian automotive industry.
Marcos Pereira noted that this new trade policy, more pragmatic, resulted in the export of more than 450,000 vehicles from January to October this year, generating revenues of US $ 5.9 billion.
