The Brazilian defense industry held until Thursday (29) in Brasilia, the 4th Mostra IDB Brazil, aiming to generate new international business opportunities, strengthening the promotion of overseas sector and open markets for Brazilian companies present their products and services.

The event should receive an audience of about 3,500 people, including representatives of foreign military, diplomatic corps members and specialized media.

The Defense Minister Raul Jungmann, stressed the importance of defense industrial base in the Brazilian economy. He cited that in 2014, the industry moved more than R $ 200 billion, representing 4% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), generating 60,000 direct jobs and 240,000 indirect jobs. The volume of exports in the same period was R $ 3.8 billion. 

The Brazilian defense industry also plays a decisive role in the independence, autonomy and sovereignty of Brazil, Jungmann said. "The defense industrial base are our legs, so to speak, and no defense industrial base, without technology, without research, there is no defense of Brazil. That's the importance of this industry, this sector, the services it entails for our country, "he said.

The participation of the Brazilian Armed Forces, who use and help develop products of the national defense industry, play a key role in promoting the sector abroad, evaluates the Secretary of Ministry of Defence Products, Flávio Basil.

"We will not be able to export Brazilian products to our own forces do not use these products. And this fair also allows us to present our products and show the integration between industry and armed forces, "he said.

The show is performed by the Brazilian Association of Defense Materials Industries and Security (Abimde) with support from the Ministry of Defence, the Armed Forces and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brazil).
