The Deliberative Council of the Worker Support Fund (Codefat) approved a budget of R $ 80.1 billion for the Fund in 2020, of which R $ 59 billion of the proposed amount will be spent on payment of unemployment benefits and wage allowance. to the workers.

The budget was approved at the last Council meeting and published in the Federal Official Gazette on Thursday (25/07). The approved amount also includes the constitutional transfer of R $ 19.5 billion to the financing of economic development programs to BNDES.

In addition to promoting employment and income generation policies, the Fund is responsible for guaranteeing the resources to pay unemployment insurance benefits, which will have R $ 40 billion in 2020; and the Salary Allowance, which is expected to cost around R $ 18.9 billion.

FAT expenses are covered by revenues from PIS / Pasep contributions - expected to collect R $ 48.8 billion next year - interest on constitutional loans to BNDES - which may reach R $ 14.7 billion - and interest on financial investments.

If the revenues do not cover the expenses of the Fund, the difference is covered by resources from other sources, which may be from the National Treasury, FAT Equity or return of the constitutional loan to BNDES. For the next fiscal year, it is expected that R $ 13.1 billion will come from other sources to meet the budget of R $ 80.1 billion.

For this year, the FAT budget in the Budgetary Guidelines Law (LOA) is also R $ 80 billion, being R $ 60.1 million for the payment of Unemployment Insurance and R $ 19.7 for the Salary Allowance. The constitutional transfer to BNDES is estimated at R $ 19.7 billion.
