Brazil will host the 39th World Congress of Wine

For the first time, Brazil will host the World International Vine and Wine Organisation Congress (OIV) . The festival, which is in its 39th edition, will take place between 23th and October 28th in Bento Gonçalves, in Rio Grande do Sul . 

With the theme "Viticulture: technological advances to market challenges," Congress intended to define guidelines for the sector, and recommend best practices for the production of grapes and wine and appropriate conditions for the conservation of the drink. 

Among the topics to be discussed are sustainable development and climate change; wine culture; healthy and responsible consumption; genetic resources; advances in technology and wine grape production table and juice;and market challenges. 

During the event, students, teachers and researchers dedicated to the theme of viticulture can give visibility to their work. At the time, it will also be held the 14th General Assembly of the OIV.  

According to the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, Maggi, it is an honor for Brazil to host the event OIV. "In addition to the programming of the international scientific field of viticulture, the event will give participants the opportunity to understand the evolution of our products, our traditions and the beauty of our country." 

Organization

The International Vine and Wine Organisation is an intergovernmental body of technical and scientific, with recognized expertise in the field of vine, wine, wine-based beverages, table grapes, raisins and other products derived from the grape and wine.  

Currently brings together 39 countries, including Brazil. The organization aims to be technical reference and scientific world for the wine industry. The edition 2014 took place in Argentina, and 2015 in Mainz, Germany.

The coordination of the event will be made by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA), with the participation of Embrapa Grape and Wine; Brazilian Wine Institute (Ibravin), the government of Rio Grande do Sul and the city hall.
