Compared to August last year, increase was 34%. This was the best performance since October 2013
Beef exports grew 13.4% from July to August. According to the Brazilian Association of Meat Exporters (Abiec), 145.8 thousand tons of the product were sold abroad. Revenues were over US $ 607 million, 12.8% higher than the previous month.
Compared to August 2016, there was a growth of 34% in volume and in sales in total exports of beef. This was the best performance for volume since October 2013 and the highest for billing since December 2014.
The association also reported that Hong Kong continues to be the main buyer of Brazilian beef. In August, it was responsible for 34.5 thousand tons (7.4% more than was marketed in July).
Sales abroad
The second place was with Egypt, which imported 23 thousand tons (27.8% increase). The third position was with China, with 18.5 thousand tons (high of 15.1%). The list of TOP 5 follows with Russia, with 15.2 thousand tons; and Iran, with 12.7 thousand tons.
