Emilie Miller (NSW) recorded Team Australia’s best result on Friday at the UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships in Nottwil, Switzerland.
Miller, in her maiden world championships, recorded the fastest time in the H1 category, covering the 14 kilometre course in a time of 47 minutes and 33 seconds.
However due to the event not meeting UCI regulations regarding the minimum number of participants in each category in order for medals to be awarded, Miller did not receive a world title.
It continues the great for the Bathurst cyclist who claimed the H1 double at the UCI Para-cycling Road World Cup in Elzach, Germany.
In the men’s H1 Grant Nickel (NSW), also on debut finished fifth. Gold went to Nicolas Pieter Du Preeez (South Africa) ahead of Timothy Williams (New Zealand) and Benjamin Frueh (Switzerland). Nigel Barley (WA) was also in action in the men’s H4.
Competition continues over the weekend with the road races.
