IBGE

Compared to May, sales of the commerce grew 1.2%. Of the 27 units of the federation, 21 increased

For the third consecutive month, trade sales recorded positive results. In June, the sector increased 1.2% compared to May. The data are from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) and were released on Tuesday (15).

The performance of the month was strongly influenced by the release of the inactive accounts of the FGTS, the fall in inflation and the decline in interest rates. Measures taken by the government to reorganize the economy also boosted the performance of the period.

In the expanded retail category, which included branches of vehicles and parts and construction materials, the advance was 4.4% compared to June last year - the best result for the month since 2012, when sales had grown 12.5%.

According to IBGE, the main positive highlights were the furniture and household appliances sectors (2.2%); Textiles, clothing and footwear (5.4%); Other articles of personal and domestic use (2.7%). The list continues with fuels and lubricants (1.2%); Pharmaceutical, medical, orthopedic, perfumery and cosmetics articles (1,5%); And books, newspapers, magazines and stationery (4.5%).

IBGE figures also show that sales growth has spread throughout the country. Of the 27 units of the federation, 21 were positive in June. The highlight of the month was Roraima, with a high of 4.9%. In the second place of this ranking figure Tocantins, with 3.3%.
