Economy and Tourism sign agreement for shared management of Union areas

Ministries will work to promote sustainable development of places with tourism potential

The Ministries of Economy and Tourism signed this Wednesday (9/11) the Interministerial Normative Instruction No. 01/2019, which establishes the shared management of tourist areas under the Union. The objective is to work together to regularize, development and use of areas with tourism potential.

"We want to stimulate the economy by using Union areas for tourism development in Brazil," explained Fernando Bispo , the Secretary of Coordination and Governance of the Union's Special Secretariat for Privatization and Divestment.

According to the norm, it is up to the Ministry of Tourism to make the public selection to define the entrepreneur who will contract, with the Secretariat of Coordination and Governance of the Union Heritage (SPU / ME), the use of the Union areas.

The folders will jointly define business models, values, correction indices, payment methods and other contract points.

Criteria

The IN also establishes project analysis criteria such as increased tourist flow, increased employment and population income, social inclusion and sustainable regional development.

"We want to take areas and real estate that today require maintenance and security expenses and develop initiatives that can generate sustainable development for the region," said Bishop.

The destination of the Union areas will be formalized by contract signed by the competent authority of the SPU, the Ministry of Tourism and the recipient, and will establish the conditions for the use of the areas.

The recipient is responsible for the use and also for any intervention made in the assigned area. Including, the execution of works is linked to environmental viability to the obtaining by the recipient of all necessary licenses and permits.

At the end of the contract, the property or property of the Union shall be returned to the public assets in identical or better condition and all improvements made in the assigned area shall be incorporated into the assets of the Union.
