CPS and Volkswagen partner for new P-Tech class

Etec students from São Caetano do Sul will work within the multinational and will have priority for hiring in the internship program

The Center Paula Souza (CPS) and Volkswagen announced on Tuesday (14) a partnership for the implementation of another group of the Higher Technical Education and Higher Education (AMS) course at the State Technical School (Etec) Jorge Street, located in São Caetano do Sul.

Based on the international P-Tech model, the modality consolidates the institutional goal of being ever closer to the productive sector, articulating professional training with the needs of regional markets. The launching event of the partnership was held at the Faculty of Technology of the State (Fatec) São Caetano do Sul.

The P-Tech program allows the student to complete in five years the High School, Technical and Technological Superior - currently, it takes six years. Another differential is the opportunity to do 200 hours of experiences within companies in the technology sector, added to the three thousand regular hours of the course.

In the class of Etec Jorge Street, the 40 students will be able to experience in the Anchieta factory of Volkswagen, in São Bernardo do Campo, professional practices, realized in the first three years of the course. They will know the areas of information technology and product development, the innovations of Industry 4.0 applied to the production process, the Laboratory of Virtual Prototype and advanced technologies such as the Cognitive Manual of the Virtus and T-Cross models, among others.

"This new teaching model enables students to apply the theory they learn in the classroom to the real working environment. It is the most efficient way to offer professional training that meets the needs and innovations of the productive sector ", says the director-superintendent of the Center Paula Souza, Laura Laganá.

The students will also receive the support of professionals from Volkswagen do Brasil, who will act as mentors in the project. Young graduates at P-Tech will have priority for hiring through the company's internship program.

"Today we live in the automotive industry a real technological revolution, with cars and processes increasingly connected. We want to prepare people for this new era by contributing to the training of professionals trained in digital transformation, "said Raquel Laranjeira, former student of Etec's Lauro Gomes electronics technical course, of São Bernardo do Campo.

More classes

The other two classes of the course were implemented in partnership with IBM at the Faculdades de Tecnologia do Estado (Fatecs) Americana, in the Campinas region; Eastern Zone, in the Capital, also with 40 vacancies in each unit.

As in São Caetano do Sul, students' enrollment takes place through High School with Professional Technical Qualification in Systems Development. At the conclusion of the three-year cycle, the student will be able to complete the technological superior course of Systems Analysis and Development with another two years of study. In this way, they learn a technical profession, experience their professional experience, and enter higher education at Fatec to deepen their knowledge.

"Technology is present in all sectors and we must act to develop the future workforce," says IBM Brazil president Tonny Martins. "We are excited to have Volkswagen implementing this innovative program with us and we encourage other companies to replicate the P-Tech model and support the training of 21st century professionals."

The selection process for the course is annual, through Vestibulinho for the first semester of the Etecs.
